Coastal
Tide and current monitoring stations on Egypt's Mediterranean coast for NIOF and NRIAG. Each station measures sea level three ways at once — acoustic, radar and submersible pressure — through an intake built to cancel waves, wakes and currents. Multi-Task Pro stations add a full weather suite.
SpaceEcho has deployed multiple tide and current monitoring stations across the Mediterranean Sea for government-affiliated scientific institutions in Egypt: the National Institute of Oceanography and Fisheries (NIOF) and the National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics (NRIAG).

Sea level at a harbour wall is never still. Surface waves, vessel wakes, ocean currents, marine biofouling (algae and microorganisms) and changes in water density all reach an ordinary tide gauge as measurement error. The institutes needed sea-level readings that stay accurate through all of them.
Tide gauge stations from SpaceEcho's tide-gauge range, each built around two parts.

NIOF and NRIAG receive sea-level data cross-validated by three independent technologies, with the errors from waves, wakes, currents and fouling removed at the intake. Where Multi-Task Pro stations are installed, coastal and weather data come from the same station.
